Franklin D. Roosevelt (FDR) was the thirty-second President of the United States and one of the most prominent figures of the twentieth century. Before being elected to the Presidency in 1932, FDR served in various political offices as State Senator, Assistant Secretary of the Navy, and New York Governor. All of these experiences helped prepare him to lead the US through the Great Depression and World War II. After inauguration, his administration quickly initiated new regulation, public works projects, and aid for struggling Americans, all in order to restore confidence in the US economy.
